Pittsburgh Post Gazette: Employee ownership provides an option for retiring small-business owners

On June 1, 2022, our retiring owners (Roger Newman & Joe Scarfone) made the unique decision to transition their business to employee-ownership. They did so with the help of Teamshares, a national company helping small businesses become employee-owned. As of January 2023, the Teamshares network included 73 companies across 26 states and dozens of industries, representing 1,500+ employee owners and $24M+ in newfound wealth for these network company employee owners. With the support and effort of the employee owners of Stahl and other network companies, Teamshares is on a mission to create $10B in new wealth for hard-working Americans over the next several years.

Our team at Stahl is proud to be part of this larger network, sharing the belief that employee-ownership is the future of small business and will produce better outcomes for businesses, employee owners, and the communities they serve. Following the sale in June, Teamshares placed Susan Taylor as our President, to lead her fellow employee owners through the transition and into our future of ownership. An Army veteran and Western PA native, she will draw from her diverse background leading various service organizations, to assist us in providing dependable products & services to the communities we serve. We are proud to be employee-owned and grateful to be members of the Teamshares network. Since 1950, Stahl Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. has reliably served the Pittsburgh area, and we look forward to delivering valuable services for years to come.
